GABRIELA ORAVOVA is an artist photographer, a Czech-Slovak born, based in Brussels, Belgium whose artworks have been exhibited and awarded in Europe and in the USA.

 

She studied partly in France and received her Master’s degree diploma in Languages, Literature, French and Italian Philology from Charles University, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy in Prague, the Czech Republic.

​

Following her passion, she studied photography and immersed  herself in the world of graphic arts and has developed her individual style in the fields of fine art photography. The artwork’s concept and poetic visual approach often reflects her literary knowledge  and her depth of interest in the subject of philosophy and spirituality.  

​

The current artwork represents her artistic research in an apparent formal black and white minimalism of the composition in order to focus on the underlying stories that are transformed into a poetic enigma inviting us to the art of visual storytelling.

​

Gabriela Oravova’s artworks focus on the mysteries of human existence,  on the surrealistic and enigmatic visions perceived in an ordinary reality reflecting the tension between the material and spiritual world. She believes that this tension can be overcome by the art and creativity.


Her photographic artworks have been exhibited in France, in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, in the USA, Italy, Spain and in Belgium.

She was nominated for the 6th FAPA Fine Art Photography Awards - the Fine Art Nominee in Professional Category and she received honorable mention of the 15th Pollux Award - Professional Section in the field of Fine Art and Portrait.

​

She has been granted with the honorable mention in People Category for her artwork The Triumph of Light by the MonoVisions Photography Awards, Leading Black and White Photography Magazine Award in London, United Kingdom. 

​

Her photographic artwork The Enigma of Seaside series have been selected by the jury of the Contemporary Art Curator Magazine and received the Artist of the Future Award and the Voices of Tomorrow Art Award in 2022.

​

Her curated selection of photographic works has been successfully exhibited at Balthasar Gallery in Brussels, Belgium.

 

Gabriela has been selected as the winner of the category "Black and White - Single Photo - Professional Section" of the 18th Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers; and her awarded photographic artworks were exhibited at FotoNostrum Gallery in Barcelona, Spain.

 

She was participating in an international exhibition The City and its Secrets during Trieste Photo Days  with her selected photography from the awarded category Creative by Urban Photo Awards 2022 in Italy.

 

In June 2023, Gabriela's photography has been exhibited at SOGO Arts Gallery in Glasgow, UK in association with The Glasgow Gallery of Photography and during Swissart Expo in Zürich, Switzerland in September 2023.

​

In September - December 2023, Gabriela has participated in a local photographic contest and exhibition dedicated to Laeken district of Brussels: “Heritage walk in the neighbourhood” and received the "Lens Prize" organised by local associations Triangle Houba – Sobieski – Heysel Committee, ASBL Laeken Découverte, ASBL LACA, Parvis 58 and the Rotonde neighborhood house, with the support of the City of Brussels.
